Although not easily visible, the top stamp illustrates the "V" being
upside down, the bottom stamp has a normal
positioned "V". This is probably due to the sheet of stamps
being folded when the perfin was produced.
| In the Faroe Islands only one company has protectively perforated stamps in order to prevent misuse. These perforations prevented the stamps from being used on unauthorized mail. Today, the company, Det Danske Petroleums Aktieselskab (DDPA) is the Danish subsidiary of Exxon. In 1930, Valdemar Lutzen took over control of the Company and his initials (V.L.) were perforated into the stamps. This perforation is still used today and is often found inverted, sideways, and reversed. | |
