Before the Faroese Christmas seals started to be sold in 1976, Danish
Christmas Seals were sold at all Faroe Island Post Offices to raise money
to fight Tubereculosis. However, there was also a need to raise money
for local charity work. The Faroese foundation, Barnahjalpargrunnurin,
issued the seals and these were also sold through the Post Office.
The 1971 post card illustrated above was sent to Norway and contains a
1966 Barnaheim seal. |
