Use of Danish Stamps with Faroe Markings
1962 - 1975

Many of the "modern" Faroe post offices were only open for a short period of time.  The post offices at Oyaraeingir and Rituvik were open from November 1964 through September 1968, a period of approximately 4 years.   Cancellations from the smaller offices such as Porkeri and Oyri are increasingly hard to acquire.  The use of purple counterstamps such as that illustrated below on the Midvagur cover were normally only used internal to the post office for time/date stamping.  This marking is not normally used postally.
