British Forces were stationed in the
Faroes from April 1940 until late Summer of 1945. Field Post Office
(FPO) 219 was used in the Faroes from August 1940 until September 1943.
The following cover endorsed"OAS" (On Active Service), signed by the appropriate
office in the upper left hand corner to authorize free-of-charge mail and
was sent to Scarborough, England. |

Letter dated 3 November 1942 sent through British
Field Post Office 611 to a convent in Branksome Park. This Field
Post Office was established on June 4, 1942 and continued to operate until
March 1944. The cover is endorsed "OAS" (On Active Service) and censored
signed by British Censor No. 4255. |
